Affordable Homeownership, Civic Space and Zero-Emissions Design in Uphams Corner
The City of Boston BPDA Board has approved 555–559 Columbia Road in the heart of Upham’s Corner! In collaboration with our client Civico, the project will deliver 33 affordable homeownership units and a new Boston Public Library branch, all while honoring the neighborhood’s history by preserving the original 1918 Dorchester Trust Company façade.
This project builds on extensive prior planning efforts culminating in the Upham’s Corner Arts and Innovation District. 555–559 Columbia Road is designed to meet Passive House certification, exceeding the City’s Zero Emissions Building requirements and ensuring that residents will benefit from a healthy, quiet, and energy-efficient home.
