Burbank Gardens Zero Over Time Decarbonization Project

DREAM is collaborating with Fenway Forward – a leading developer of affordable housing in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood – to implement the Burbank Gardens Zero Over Time Decarbonization Project. Burbank Gardens is a 52-unit income restricted apartment building located in the Fenway. The project is one of the inaugural awardees of the City of Boston’s Equitable Emissions Investment Fund, which supports projects aimed at reducing building emissions. The project is also receiving Climate Ready Housing from the state. These funds will be used toward a building retrofit to comply with the requirements of Boston’s Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO).

The project includes upgrades to prepare the site for the future full electrification of its mechanical systems. The project will also electrify the hot water system, provide LED lighting and occupancy sensors, and new energy star exhaust fans. These upgrades will reduce emissions by approximately 20 percent, improving indoor air quality. The retrofit will be an occupied rehabilitation, with minimum impact to the residents of Burbank Gardens.
