DREAM has been great to work with, with quality work and diligent follow-ups. They truly care about the impact we’re having on the community. Their commitment to equity at the center has been a unique part of my work.
Working closely with MassDevelopment, DREAM explored re-programming and activation opportunities for nine storefronts and the surrounding public space. Starting with a tactical urbanism toolkit, we developed a public realm activation plan to test the redistribution of space from vehicles to people. This plan builds on previous interventions spearheaded by MassDevelopment and community partners and was co-created with the community and the property owners.
Additionally, we provided the team with advocacy materials to simplify the existing permitting processes that the City of Springfield requires for tactical interventions. The simpler it is for community members to organize block parties and beautification projects, the more agency they will have in how their neighborhoods look and function.
